Is The Organization Eligible?

To be eligible for certification, your organization must be:

• Ongoing - regularly and actively engaged in business activity.
• Control - the eligible Directors/Trustees control the organization
• Independent - not dependent upon or influenced by another non-eligible business or organization

An organization is not eligible if it has been established or reorganized for the specific purpose of taking advantage of the SDO certification program.

Note: Prospective business activity is not normally sufficient to meet the ongoing business requirement. There is no requirement as to the length of time in organization or volume of services. However, without control of the eligible Directors/Trustees over the day-to-day activities of the organization, it would be difficult to demonstrate that it's "ongoing" within the meaning of the regulations.
